Following Santa Maria beach and before getting to Guanabo there are some kilometers of beach that Cuban people call Boca Ciega.  This is a pleasant beach because there are high dunes sown with coconut palms that protect bathers from the sun.

This area is a little distant  of the tourist centre of Santa Maria beach, which is lonely and pleasant.

In Boca Ciega there is a famous beach known as Mi Cayito, a favorite place for gays.

Next to this beach, the Blau Club Arenal Hotel is situated in the Laguna Itabo, special site due to its natural conditions of abundant vegetation and the surrounding natural lagoon.
